Mainnet domains are valid only in Mainnet and are independent of domains with the same name on the old internet. Well-known brands are protected: only the real rights holder can request them, with proof.

The internet was built 50 years ago for a handful of universities. Encryption, privacy and identity were patched on later. Mainnet has all of it built in from the start. It is still in beta: an independent security audit is planned.
